Inspired by The True Secret of Writing:Connecting Life with LanguageThe author Natalie Goldberg is a longtime student of Zen, a practice that has informed her writing since her earlier bestseller, Writing Down the Bones. This writing retreat is very simple. Sit for 10 minutes. Walk for 10 minutes. Write for 10 minutes. Read what we have written aloud and listen to others. Begin the cycle again.

Book Cover - True Secret of WritingSIT mindfully to experience stillness and silence.

WALK mindfully to connect with the body and the ground.

WRITE mindfully to reflect the mind.

LISTEN mindfully to connect with others

Writing topics will be offered to structure the timed sessions. Following each session of sit, walk, write, writers are invited to read aloud what has been written and listen as others do the same. There will also be brief readings and a refreshment/tea break at midpoint. No previous experience with writing or meditation is required. Either chair or cushion will be available to sit upon.
